The idea of law is the simple, rather idealistic notion that a few talented men and women trained and passionate in the law can make this unjust world so much of a better place.
William Chan Guang Yu is a law student at Trinity, University of Cambridge. He is neither liberal nor conservative, neither pro-government nor pro-opposition. He is only pro-democracy, pro-constitution, pro-reason and most of all pro-justice.
Despite all evidence to the contrary, he still believes in the future of Malaysia.

When the ISA was debated in the Parliament, Tunku Abdul Rahman, our first Prime Minister as well as our Father of Independence, said this:
“My cabinet colleagues and I gave a solemn promise to Parliament and the nation that the immense powers given to the government under the ISA would never be used to stifle legitimate opposition and silence lawful dissent.”
Though no fault of his own, Tunku's promise has been broken...
